Ivanhoe Oak Savanna Restoration
Groundwork Gary is working with the Wildlife Habitat Council, Gary Community School Corporation on the restoration and management of an 11-acre Oak Savanna site. This site has been maintained by the school and is in need of an ecological management plan. Groundwork is working with the listed partners and a host of others in the long term planning that will keep this site a natural treasure for all to enjoy.

Gary Green Link Master Plan
The Gary Green Link project is a plan for the formation and management of a natural resources greenway and recreation corridor that will ring the City of Gary, connecting the Grand Calumet River, Little Calumet River and Lake Michigan's shoreline. Groundwork will work collaboratively in this effort in the development of additional trails, and signage.

City of Gary Community Wide Clean-up
One of the City of Gary's biggest assets is its people. Groundwork is engaged in working with the citizens of Gary to help coordinate and conduct clean-ups' city wide. We will work to assist with the coordination of clean up events, and help to bring in much needed resources to help the community in their current efforts to Keep Gary Clean.

Native Landscaping in Downtown Gary
Groundwork Gary is working with the Gary Chamber of Commerce in the ongoing beautification of Downtown Gary, Indiana. We have identified the Annex building of the City of Gary as the site for a demonstration on native landscaping and storm water runoff.

Pocket Park Development
Groundwork is currently working on developing a plan that looks at the development of pocket parks throughout the City of Gary. The success of this program will depend on major involvement by members from the local community. It is through a collaborative process with the community that priority sites will be identified, and long term plans for the priority sites sustainability will be put in place.
